We can only surmise that certain persons seek improper opportunity where oil stocks are now popular. This person or persons are attempting to draw attention to our company, is doing it for reasons that appear obvious. We find their actions ethically and morally reprehensible.

These actions qualify as “stock promotion” and are classified as illegal marketing tactics. Spam email or faxing generally has a sole purpose, which is to rapidly raise the awareness of products and services for a company that may or may not be openly traded.

Spam costs U.S. economy $9 billion

A study released by Ferris Research in January 2003 estimated that the annual cost of spam, or unsolicited e-mail messages, is approximately $9 billion for U.S. corporations, $2.5 billion for European businesses and another $500 million for U.S. and European service providers.

Estimating it takes 4.4 seconds on average to deal with a message, the messages add up to $4 billion in lost productivity for U.S. businesses each year.

Another $3.7 billion is spent by corporations for more powerful servers and more bandwidth as well as in divert staff time. The rest is attributable to companies providing help desk support to annoyed users.
