Trace Maurin is President of Cantex Energy, which he co-founded with several private investors in 2002.

Maurin also owns and operats Mesa Chica Corp, an oil & gas company that he founded in in the mid-1980s in South Texas, drilling shallow gas wells in Maverick County, Texas. He has supervised all aspects of operations from start to completion.  After Maverick, he began performing seismic survey work and funded the oil exploration from these surveys.  He has drilled and operated a production well in Bee County, Texas, as well as operated and managed a shallow oil operation in Atascosa County, Texas.  Mesa Chica has invested in other oil & gas ventures in Texas, Wyoming, and Louisiana.  Maurin is experienced in surveying locations and drawing up plats for the Texas Railroad commission.
